Native, Non-Native, & “Invasive” Plant Species Conversation Series
Join us for our first Conversation Series on the topic of native, non-native, and invasive plant species. We invited three different speakers to share with us their relational and professional experiences with plants. They provide us with their views, experiences, practices, and perhaps some things we have not yet considered. Come, listen to, or read about these conversations and see if you learn something new, share similar experiences, or beg to differ.

Summary of the Interviews:
Nancy Klehm - Ecological systems designer, landscaper, horticultural consultant, and agroecological grower in Illinois.
Ep.1: Observation & Curiosity
In this interview we learn an approach to site assessments and a how-to work with native, non-native, and “invasive” plant species, as well as their effects on the soil and the ecosystems. Nancy approaches plants from a place of respect and observation and the importance of what we can learn by noticing who is showing up and what they are telling us.
Dr. Tabitha Faber - PhD in Botany with a focus in Ethnobotany. Wisconsin & Michigan.
Ep.2: Plant-Human Relationships within Cultural Context
In this interview, Tabitha shares historical context of the migration of plants and how the war on invasives came to be. Tabitha also goes into detail about her fascinating research with the culinary and medicinal plant, Apazote and it’s many facets.
Alexis Durham - Botanical educator and industry leader with two decades of experience working with medicinal plants from seed to shelf. Oregon.
Ep.3: Conservation, Restoration, Compassion, & Understanding
In this interview we talk about navigating relationships with plant beings. Alexis addresses the topic of native, non-native, and invasive plants from a relational and plant medicine perspective.
